Months after the defeat of Lord Voldermort and his Death Eaters, Kingsley Shacklebot, a former Auror for the Ministry of Magic was appointed temporary position as Minister. Since the fall of The Dark Lord, new ideas were brought forward to add to the new era of the wizarding world. In a move to make the Ministry become more secure and cautious, Shaklebot added new legislation to the books.

"For those applying to join the Ministry, they must meet our criteria and have broader knowledge than they already possess in order to be fully accepted into one of our many departments."

As a result, Shaklebot also added another new legislation; much like the muggle education system, newly graduated young wizards and witches were now given the opportunity to further study a subject of interest and widen their opportunites for Ministry careers in the future. This addition to the education system is not strictly limited to those who want to work for the Ministry. It is also open for anyone looking at a non-Ministry career.

The Ministry chose a run down muggle university located in the center of the Town of Cambridge to become Europe's first Wizarding College, Alphina. At Alphina College, students learn independence and learn to dwell among Cambridge's local muggles.

Features:

- The large grounds that provides its students with space and comfort.
- There are no houses to cause division within the student community. But instead, two separate wings: the boys' and girls' dorms.
- Four wings, each contain several classrooms for the courses taken by students.
- The Beaumont Greenhouses are newly built greenhouses which provide Advanced Herbology students with state of the art Herbology equipment and its modern uses.
- The Bowman Quidditch Field is one of the largest Quidditch Fields in all of Europe. Due to its size, it is located outside of town and cannot be seen by muggles.
- Alphina Tower contains more than three hundred stairs. Its other alternatives to reach the top is by apparition and broomsticks.

Three years ago, Alphina College opened its large wooden doors to the first of its local and international students. Now, headed by the great wizard Eremus Hellebore and on the staff, a select number of professional and highly skilled wizards, Alphina College will strive to make a student's future look more than promising.
